Hacienda La Esmeralda has been an outstanding iconic producer years after year since their winning Best of Panama in 2004.
With the careful planting in designed geography under the optimal unique soil and climate condition, harvesting at the absolute peak of ripeness, and combining high elevation, Esmeralda Private Collection certainly leads to a sweet, balanced cup of coffee.
The Geisha varietal carries classic floral and fruity notes and multiple layered aromatics, followed by a bright and juicy body that has made people from all over the world fall in love with.
In order to elevate the distinctive “Esmeralda” profile, the Peterson family use only recycled water, sourced from the highlands near the mill. In addition, proceeds from the coffee have gone to school programs where their pickers' children during harvest, which include hot meals and necessities for all harvesters and their families while they live on the farm; and bi-annual bonus of at least 30%.
There’s no doubt in coffee quality from Esmeralda. With its track record of record breaking sales price, long historic competition worthy, we are the lucky ones to have landed the Private Collection this year. Within four of the Esmeralda farms: Palmira, Jaramillo, Canas Verdes, El Velo, we’ve selected their collection from Jaramillo and El Velo, and we are happy to share with you all.

The Landrace blend is the best performing accessions over a mix of 400 coffees that planted in the El Velo farm with years and year of evaluation since 2007. In a cup, expect an elegant floral aromatic, sweet and refreshing body, lingering with mandarines flavour and mild honey-like mouthfeel.

The micro lots dried at Hacienda La Esmeralda’s mill in Palmira and precisely selected by Daniel and Rachel Peterson. The classic natural processing characteristics has been highly noticeable in the cup. Experience a complex cup of geisha filled with high intensity of berries sweetness, and lingering blackberry finish.

The Jaramillo Washed is a mix of top performing Geisha microlots that grows at the Jaramillo Farm under an optimal microclimate. The microlots are then dried at Hacienda La Esmeralda’s mill in Palmira after washed processed. A smooth and well-balanced coffee embodies pleasant floral aromatic, note of nutmeg and ginger tea, topped off with sugar coating mouthfeel to the palate.
