We are familiar with this coffee, aren’t we?

A classic expression of Ethiopia’s rich terroir, Gora Kone Natural offers a cup filled with character, depth, and complexity. This remarkable coffee has continued to surprise and inspire us since it accompanied us to second place at the 2019 National Brewers Cup. With the new 2025 crop, there’s even more to discover in its rich and complex profile.Expect a sweet and explosive profile with notes of cherry jam, red grape, and a delicate wine-like complexity, a remarkable cup that resonates long after each sip.

About the Coffee

Gora Kone Washing Station is located in the Refisa Kebele of Nensebo District, within Ethiopia’s West Arsi Zone (Oromia Region), just north of Sidama. The name Gora Kone — Gora (mountain) and Kone (hump) — beautifully encapsulates its dramatic landscape: a solitary peak that stands proudly above the surrounding forests.

Smallholders from the community, predominantly from the Oromo ethnic group, bring their cherries from farms averaging less than four hectares in size. Each season, the washing station typically receives cherries from 600–1,000 producers, adding rich complexity and character to every cup.

While Gora Kone is classified as a Sidamo coffee due to its distinctly stand out flavor profile, complex, with floral notes and a hint of citrus. The washing station produces both washed and natural coffees, with the naturals delivering an especially sweet cup rich in tropical notes. This careful processing, alongside the expertise of the producers and team at Gora Kone, results in coffees that celebrate their origin in every sip.
