Seasonal Series

Hello Yirgacheffe,

We don't quite remember last time we brought in a Yirgacheffe, just been too long ago.

Nowadays market is full of special fermentation and/or special processing coffee, and yet we are still in favourable of traditional processed coffees.

Chelchele Yirgacheffee is probably one that speak our mind.

Enjoy the classic profile of a Yirgacheffe coffee, where aroma of Assam Black tea rise alongside the sweetness of brown sugar. Acidity of Yuzu nicely sits well behind the sugary notes, lifting the tasting notes and adding complexity and depth.

About Coffee

An Emerging Micro-Region

Banko Chelchele is steadily gaining recognition among roasters worldwide for producing some of Ethiopia’s most delicate and floral coffees. Nestled in the Gedeb district of Yirgacheffe, the area’s unique microclimate, fertile red soils, and heirloom varieties come together to create a remarkable recipe for clarity and complexity in the cup.

Chelchele Washing Station

The Chelchele station exemplifies both organization and sustainability. Each delivery of cherry is carefully tracked, with numbered drying beds and strict attention to hygiene. The site is equipped with a dedicated wastewater lagoon system, ensuring nearby rivers remain uncontaminated—an uncommon but vital step in responsible coffee processing. The station produces up to 13 containers of high-quality coffee each harvest, and its commitment to Organic, Rainforest Alliance, and AAA certifications underscores its dedication to both quality and community.

The Producers

Chelchele works with a loyal network of smallholder farmers, most cultivating on plots averaging just two hectares. Producers are drawn to the station not only for competitive pricing, but also for education, flexible payment structures, and support with certification. This collaborative model helps secure consistent quality while strengthening the livelihoods of farming families.

From careful cultivation to thoughtful processing, Chelchele Yirgacheffe W showcases the dedication and natural beauty of Ethiopia’s coffee heartland, resulting in a cup of remarkable clarity and depth.
