About Coffee

This lot comes from the Bombe kebele in the Bensa district of Sidama, one of Ethiopia’s most celebrated high-altitude coffee regions. Grown at elevations between 2,100 and 2,200 meters, the coffee is produced by Basha Bekele and approximately 500 local smallholder farmers, most of whom belong to the Sidama community. The combination of clay-rich soils, cool temperatures, and traditional farming practices creates ideal conditions for slow cherry maturation and complex flavor development.


After harvest, only ripe cherries are selected and carefully processed using the Red Honey method. The cherries are partially depulped, leaving a substantial amount of mucilage on the parchment before drying. This extended contact with fruit sugars enhances sweetness and texture while preserving clarity in the cup. Drying is closely monitored to achieve optimal moisture levels before the coffee is hulled and prepared for export.
