About Coffee
Cafe Granja La Esperanza
Café Granja La Esperanza is one of Colombia’s most respected and innovative coffee producers. The Herrera family has shaped its legacy over generations, beginning in 1945 when Juan Antonio Herrera and Blanca Ligia Correa introduced Bourbon and Caturra to the Potosí farm.
Today, the family is led by brothers Rigoberto and Luis Herrera, who manage several award-winning farms, including Las Margaritas, where this exceptional Geisha was grown. In 2008, after winning first place at Panama’s prestigious Best of Panama competition, Rigoberto brought Geisha seeds back to Colombia. This marked a new chapter for Granja La Esperanza, beginning their journey of cultivating rare varietals under Colombia’s challenging conditions with remarkable success.
Processing
This lot was carefully selected at peak ripeness, with cherries floated to ensure only the densest, highest-quality fruit were used. The cherries were then placed in open tanks for a 72-hour fermentation before being dried in mechanical dryers for 8 to 12 days at a consistent 38°C. After drying, the beans were stored in climate-controlled warehouses at 18–19°C to preserve their character and freshness.
The result is a floral and fruit-forward Geisha that combines the elegance of jasmine and azahar blossom with tropical fruit vibrancy and a clean, cherry-toned sweetness. A true reflection of Colombian terroir, careful processing, and the relentless pursuit of excellence that defines Café Granja La Esperanza.
